When I first created Boundless Mind of Mine, it was nothing more than a desire to share some of my travel and life experiences abroad. That quickly changed after realizing how my experience as a Muslim woman living in China and solo traveling could assist another sister’s (or brother’s) journey.
It was everything from feeling eager to find mosques, halal restaurants, and other Muslim travelers or locals everywhere I went. It wasn’t just the comfort I was looking for, but rather a sense of connection to what keeps me grounded.
Everything about being a Muslim is a way of life. How we plan our day based on the prayer times, how we are selective of where and what we eat, what settings we are comfortable being in, and the list goes on.
When you’ve experienced enough unwanted situations because of you’re inability to fully “fit in”, you quickly realize how much of your religious identity is tied to your overall existence. From experience, I need travel experiences that are specifically crafted and geared toward acknowledging my needs as a Muslim traveler. Whether they are planned by a company or by me, it makes a lot of a difference in how comfortable I feel at the end of the day.
To remind all my fellow Muslims that travel is indeed for everyone, here’s a list of companies, organizations, and groups that cater to OUR needs. Enjoy!
